Midt-Telemark Trail Cycling
Midt-Telemark Stisykling AS (MTS) was established in collaboration with the municipality of Midt-Telemark, the University of South-Eastern Norway, Sagavoll Folk High School, Bø Frikjøringsklubb, Sentrumsringen i Bø and Visit Bø AS. The aim is to make Midt-Telemark an attractive trail cycling destination.
11 local companies and organisations are now joining a business network to continue working on the development of trail cycling in Midt-Telemark and Nome in collaboration with Midt-Telemark Stisykling AS.
The purpose of the business network is to develop the region into one of Norway's best trail cycling destinations at all levels.
The business network has received a grant of NOK 725,000 from Innovation Norway for the first main project. In addition, the participating companies and organisations are contributing a total of NOK 150,000. Midt-Telemark Stisykling AS is now applying to the county council for further funding in order to be able to start up the first development measures under 2025.
The business network is broadly based and represents more than 100 companies and organisations in Midt-Telemark and Nome, as Visit Bø, Sentrumsringen and Lunde Trade association all participate in the network.
The Goal of the Cycling Programme
- Increased attractiveness for travellers by being a new destination in the area
- Increased attractiveness as a place to live for residents and students
- A new offer for self-organised activities for children and young people
- Give travellers a reason to visit the destination during the shoulder season
- Provide students and pupils in the municipality with an attractive range of activities during lessons and leisure time
- Provide residents with more opportunities for an active everyday life, contributing to public health work and increasing the attractiveness of the area as a place to live
- Develop attractive and sustainable facilities for trail cycling in Midt-Telemark
