How to get here

The Midt-Telemark region is centrally located in Vestfold and Telemark and is easily accessible either by train, bus or car. Take the train to Nordagutu, Bø or Lunde with eight departures daily between Oslo, Kristiansand and Stavanger.

The region has a good bus service from Oslo, Bergen, Skien and TORP Sandefjord airport. And it’s only two hours by either train or car from Oslo. Read more about distances and how to get here below.

By car

The journey by car takes around two hours, driving west from Oslo and about three hours drive north from Kristiansand. Here is an overview of the distance from the largest cities:


By train and bus

Sørlandsbanen to Go-Ahead runs between Oslo and Stavanger (via Kristiansand) and stops in both Bø and Lunde with eight departures daily. Book your ticket at VY.no or Go-aheadNordic.no.

To Bø, Gvarv, Lunde and Ulefoss by bus

The Haukeliekspressen bus runs daily from Oslo and Bergen to Bø.

Bicycle

Our region offers a variety of cycling paths. It's also easy to travel here by bike from nearby areas. You can either bring your own bike on the train, or rent one when you're here.

Taxi

If you need a taxi, you can call Bø Taxi. They also have space for wheelchair users.

To Lifjell

Lifjell is your closest mountain, whether you come from Denmark or live in the central eastern part of Norway. Lifjell is just 12 km from the town of Bø in Telemark.

As of today, unfortunately, there is no bus directly to Lifjell. The nearest bus stops are Telemarkshallen, Sommarland, or Tjønntveit.

– Oslo 150 km
– Larvik 90 km
– Drammen 110 km
– Kristiansand 230 km

For parking at Lifjell (Jønnbu), the daily parking fee is 50 NOK per day. Payment is made at the parking lot. It is also possible to purchase an annual parking pass for Lifjell. The parking pass can be purchased from the technical department at Bekkevoll.

How to buy bus tickets

Bøbussen is the local bus in Bø. On Farte's website and 'Reiseplanlegger', you can find a complete overview of departures in Midt-Telemark and Nome. They also have space for wheelchair users.

You can purchase the ticket by downloading the Farte-app from the App Store or Google Play, or you can buy it onboard.
