In the summer months July and August Bø and Lifjell Turridning AS at Lifjell we arrange excursions in spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful surroundings. The excursions are arranged by the general manager Ragnhild Rekanes. She is committed, energetic and experienced and has had great success since its launch in 2016. She is a self-proclaimed mountain goat who knows the area extremely well. Together with her experienced guides and reliable horses you will have a truly unforgettable experience in the mountains.

EVENTS & BOOKING

Would you like to join us for a ride? We have a number of different excursions suitable for all ages and experience levels.

WE OFFER DIFFERENT TYPES OF RIDING EXCURSIONS ACCORDING TO YOUR LEVEL AND PREFERENCE

We tailor rides for families/small groups, either as a private group, or as an open group ride. On an open group ride you have the opportunity to get to know people while sharing a fantastic experience. Whether the ride is in hilly and challenging mountain terrain, or in easier terrain, you can relax and enjoy our sturdy and experienced horses.

The rides are set up according to your level of experience, and we take into account the weather conditions to ensure your safety. The rides are divided into levels 1-5 to give an indication of the riding skills required. You can read additional details further down this page where we describe our riding levels.

We can highly recommend a summit tour of Krintofjellet, where you can enjoy a stunning view and a day trip to Gavlesjåstulen with real sour cream porridge for lunch.

If you would like a longer ride with a overnight stay, we recommend you join us in Hollane. There you can experience real mountain life. There is an excursion with fixed departure dates during the summer season.

The Icelandic horse is a horse breed with five gaits, of which tölt and pass are unique to the breed. You can experience this on special excursions that focus on gaits.

 

Bø and Lifjell Turridning offer you an experience and excursion tailored to your preferences, age and experience. Tailoring the ride gives a more immersive experience; connecting with the horse and exploring the terrain, enjoying the nature, sharing the experience with friends, and getting to know others. For our overnight trips, you’ll stay at the scenic Hollane Seter – a mountain farm nestled high in the hills.

We operate out of Hørte (autumn, winter and spring) and Lifjell (summer) in beautiful Telemark. Lifjell offers stunning views and peaceful nature – perfect for summer getaways.

Level descriptions

To make it easier for you to choose the right ride, we have divided our tours into levels 1–5, where 1 is the least demanding and 5 requires endurance and/or balance on horseback. We have considered the terrain and duration of the tour when assigning levels. Even if the ride takes place in easy terrain, it may still feel demanding if it lasts for a longer time. However, we find that inexperienced riders usually manage longer rides without any issues. If you're unsure about which tour would suit you best, don’t hesitate to get in touch—we’re happy to help you find the right one!

Half-day tour: 2–3
Tour to Krinto: 3

Where do I meet?

Depending on where the ride takes place, there are two different meeting points:

  • If your ride is on Hørte or Skåråfjell, the meeting point is at Stall Sverdmyr in Hørte, by Sverdmyrbakken.

  • If your ride is on Lifjell, the meeting point is at Torisul, near Lifjell Ski Center.
