Lunde

Lunde is known for its beautiful location along the Telemark Canal. Lunde is a popular stop for tourists and boat travellers alike, with the canal sluices being one of the main attractions.
Discover the Unique Landscape of Lunde

The town has a rich history and offers scenic surroundings, cycle paths and opportunities for canoeing, fishing and hiking. Lunde is also a hub for travellers who want to experience the nature of Telemark and the cultural landscape around the canal.

Situated along the impressive Telemark Canal, Lunde offers a variety of nature experiences all year round.

☀️ In the summer, it is very popular to explore the canal, either by boat, bike or on foot. Lunde sluice is one of the historic sluices and is a traffic hub where the three canal boats MS Victoria, MS Henrik Ibsen and MS Telemarken meet in the middle of the day.

There are also several great hikes in the area. One of the most popular is the hike to Luberg, where the reward is a spectacular view of the landscape around Lunde.

❄️Lunde is also a magical place to visit in winter. When the snow covers the landscape in a blanket of white, trips along the Telemark Canal become a very special experience. The cold, fresh air and the soft light create an adventurous atmosphere. If you're really brave, you'll also find places for ice bathing here.

Places to Stay in The Canal Village of Lunde

First Camp Lunde - Telemark is located right by the Telemark Canal and Lunde sluice. The campsite has large pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents, most with electricity, water and a gravel surface with a lawn in front.

The entire area is adapted for the disabled, with a universally designed service building and hard-packed gravel surface that is wheelchair-friendly. At First Camp Lunde - Telemark you can hire canoes and kayaks, as well as bicycles.

Places To Eat in Lunde

Lunde offers an idyllic atmosphere and unique flavours.

We recommend a visit to Lunde Slusekro, a cosy summer restaurant by Lunde sluice. From the outdoor terrace you have a fantastic view of the sluice chambers, the canal and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Close by is Lunde Slusepark, which is ideal for picnics.

Cultural Life in Lunde

Lunde Gjestehavn is perfectly located between the historic sluice and the beautiful Lunde Sluseparken. If you're travelling by boat, you can dock in idyllic surroundings and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay with access to electricity and water. Price: NOK 150 per day, payable at Lunde Slusekro.

🚗 Lunde has a committed car community. A unique feature of local automotive history is the Trollbilen, Norway's first series-produced passenger car, which was developed in Lunde in the 1950s. One of the cars stands in a showcase that turns when you press a button.
